With its partner Altan Jolo, Carrerfour establishes a presence in Mongolia and opens two stores, a hypermarket and a supermarket in Ulaanbaatar.

With Altan Joloo and its subsidiary Sansar, Carrefour International Partnership expands its global reach and announces the launch of its first two stores in Mongolia on February 17th under the names Carrefour (hypermarket) and Carrefour Market (supermarket). All of the Sansar stores—there are already more than 20—can access products under the Carrefour brand thanks to the deployment of Carrefour banners in Mongolia.

The CEO of Altan Joloo Trading LLC, Ms. Oyundari Enkhbaatar, stated: “We are incredibly proud and thrilled to cooperate with Carrefour, one of the top retailers in the world. To strengthen our position in Mongolia, we intend to rebrand our 20 Sansar locations and build at least 20 additional Carrefour supermarkets and hypermarkets in the upcoming years. We will now be able to provide a wide range of goods at affordable costs, including fresh goods, a sizable selection of Carrefour private label products, and a variety of French wines. In order to benefit every household and provide genuine value and solutions to Mongolia’s rising cost of living, it is our mission to offer the best cheap products in all of our locations.

“We are very glad to maintain increasing our worldwide footprint, with the inauguration of the first Carrefour stores in Mongolia, in the scope of our 2026 strategic plan to enter more than 10 new markets,” said M. Patrick Lasfargues, Executive Director of Carrefour International Partnership. Our first two stores are a significant step in the direction of our objective of exceeding Mongolian customers’ expectations and providing them with the best of Carrefour, including premium goods at competitive rates.
