First Whole Foods Market in Jersey City is Now Open

Whole Foods Market in Jersey City is now welcoming customers! Situated at the intersection of Washington Street and Columbus Drive, this expansive 51,156-square-foot store marks Whole Foods’ debut in Jersey City.

What sets this location apart is its design, drawing inspiration from the city’s vibrant art scene.

The aesthetic incorporates graphics depicting the nearby Hudson River, and a cool-toned color palette was carefully chosen to infuse a sense of tranquility into the bustling neighborhood.

Opening its doors at 8 a.m. EST, the store boasts a meticulously curated product assortment exceeding 1,000 local items from the Northeast.

The selection was thoughtfully curated with the assistance of John Lawson, Whole Foods Market’s senior local forager. Nicole Davia, Senior Vice President of Operations, expressed excitement about bringing the unique Whole Foods shopping experience to Jersey City, especially considering the city already hosts one of the retailer’s store support offices.

To show appreciation to the community, Whole Foods Market has generously donated to several nonprofit organizations, including The Sharing Place, Triangle Park Community Center, and “The Community Food Bank of New Jersey”, a nonprofit organization that helps to provide food assistance to those in need in New Jersey.

Additionally, a refrigerated van, previously donated through the Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program, will regularly pick up rescued food from the Jersey City store to distribute to those in need.

This marks the second refrigerated van donated by Whole Foods Market in New Jersey, following a previous donation to Morristown-based nonprofit Nourish, N.J. The program, spanning the entire U.S., has seen Whole Foods Market donate 38 vans to various food rescue organizations.
