a significant dedication to helping young people in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
The Secours Populaire charity’s vital outreach programs in the Bouches-du-Rhône department are being supported by the CMA CGM Foundation as financial insecurity among France’s most vulnerable populations, particularly young people, rises.
Every year, Secours Populaire, a French charity founded in 1945, helps over 3 million people. Access to crucial resources and services for adults, adolescents, and children who are struggling financially is its main goal. With 122 locations spread across the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Secours Populaire also supports programs that increase everyone’s access to leisure, cultural, and health services through a network of 4,000 volunteers.
Generous financial support for the Pères Nol Verts program this year
We are happy to support Secours Populaire’s efforts to help families and children celebrate the holidays with dignity as the end of the year approaches.
The charity’s initiatives in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, such as the “Green Santas” campaign, are supported by the CMA CGM Foundation. The objective is to provide holiday treats for 7,000 kids and fresh fruit (clementines) for the 15,000 families who receive food assistance from the charity in the department in December.
a long-term partnership that benefits young people
A hundred or so young people will have free access to personal care kits and fresh, high-quality food items throughout 2023 thanks to the CMA CGM Foundation’s special holiday initiative (fruit and vegetables purchased from local producers). The intention is to address the growing challenges faced by many young people in finding these kinds of expensive essentials.
The cost of purchasing a vehicle for the Solidar’Bus program will also be covered by funding from the CMA CGM Foundation. This mobile youth facility is a truck outfitted with a waiting area and a storage space. It visits locations where young people congregate frequently (local outreach units, youth hostels, university campuses, etc.) and distributes aid packages and volunteer-based services.
Together with Secours Populaire, the CMA CGM Group will use its logistics know-how to develop new strategies for maximizing their land-based warehousing and shipping services for donations through employee skills-based volunteerism at the CMA CGM Group’s CEVA Logistics subsidiary.
Tanya Saadé Zeenny, Chairwoman of the CMA CGM Foundation, said, “We are thrilled to be supporting Secours Populaire’s Pères Noel Verts campaign in the Bouches-du-Rhône department for the first time. “The CMA CGM Foundation and Secours Populaire share the desire to assist those in need. By inviting them to an outreach Christmas party, we are working together to ensure that children can celebrate the holiday season with dignity.
Sonia Serra, head of the department federation for Secours Populaire in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, continued, “We’re delighted that the CMA CGM Foundation has joined as a new partner supporting our outreach programs for the most vulnerable. “Business involvement in Secours Populaire’s outreach initiatives helps us develop our capacity and independence, as well as diversify our funding sources.
The Pères Nol Verts program and outreach initiatives are extremely important all year long, but especially now that the current crisis is hitting those who were already struggling so severely.
