New CEO of Costa Coffee is announced
Today, Costa Coffee made the announcement that Philippe Schaillee would take over as CEO of the business on April 10, 2023. From Groupe SEB, where he has been executive vice president in charge of Products and Innovation since April 2021, Schaillee joins Costa.
Evguenia “Jeny” Stoichkova, president of Global Ventures for The Coca-Cola Company, praised Philippe as “an extraordinary leader who comes to Costa with a rich background in business and a passion for establishing great brands.” We are eager to collaborate with Philippe to create our growth strategies for Costa, both domestically and internationally.
In 1994, Schaillee started working for the Sara Lee Group in Belgium, where he handled a variety of marketing positions. He relocated to the US in 2000 and worked as the executive vice president of marketing for the coffee and tea industries. Later on, he was appointed EVP of the beverage division.
He was appointed EVP of the division for breakfast, snacks, and beverages in 2006. For all of the Sara Lee Group’s categories in the US, he was appointed SVP, chief marketing officer, and executive committee member in 2008.
After his return to Europe in 2012, Schaillee joined the Jacob Douwe Egberts (JDE) Group. He was elected to the executive committee of the Professional Coffee Division and given the title of president.
He most recently served as a member of the executive committee of Groupe SEB, a France-based company that leads the world market for cookware, small home appliances, and professional coffee equipment. Its brands include WMF, Schaerer, All-Clad, Krups, Tefal, and Rowenta.
I have long admired Costa and value the organization’s rich heritage and history, Schaillee stated. I’m thrilled to be a part of Costa’s outstanding team and am looking forward to developing the company alongside them.
In addition to having an MBA from Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School, Schaillee graduated from Catholic University Leuven in Belgium.
Schaillee succeeds Jill McDonald, the previous CEO of Costa. He will be located in London and report to Stoichkova.
