initiative from coworkers for a worthy cause
Employee contributions are doubled by management. Since 2011, employees of EDEKA Südwest and its subsidiaries have donated one cent from each pay check as part of the project “Cent-Spende-EDEKA Südwest hilft.”
Together, they have previously accomplished a lot: in 2022, more than 15,380 euros were gathered. The EDEKA Südwest board of directors doubled this sum at the end of the year and has since presented a symbolic check for 16,000 euros.
The funds will be used for the current year’s benefit and later distributed to a number of nonprofit organizations in the Southwest.
“We would like to express our gratitude to our employees for their support of the project through their monthly donations. It demonstrates unequivocally how even modest sums can have a significant impact. When the symbolic donation check was handed out, Rainer Huber, spokesman for the Management Board, expressed his gratitude and happiness at being able to double the sum donated in 2022.
How the donations are used is decided by a committee made up of eight employees who rotate every two years, the works council, and representatives from different business sectors. The clubs and organizations that work for kids and teenagers, as well as people with disabilities, are the main emphasis of this article’s sales section.
364,000 euros were given.
Every year, the Management Board increases staff donations by a factor of two. The firm is supporting the donation initiative rather than giving Christmas gifts to clients, collaborators, and staff. The EDEKA Südwest board of directors and the employees who chose to participate in the “Cent donation—EDEKA Südwest hilft” initiative have contributed a total of 364,000 euros to 202 charity organizations since the initiative’s founding in 2011.
