Evere, 6 September 2022 – Households always have extra spending in September when the kids go back to school. And this year, that’s against the backdrop of rising inflation and the energy crisis. That’s why Carrefour is continuing with its raft of measures to boost people’s purchasing power so they can live life from one day to the next without having to deprive themselves… the overarching aim always being to make the best food affordable to everyone.
By way of a reminder, Carrefour’s measures to shore up people’s purchasing power were introduced two weeks ago on 23 August and showcase 300 SIMPL brand products which are among the least expensive in Carrefour’s assortment. On 30 August, Carrefour announced its campaign to sell 1000 products at under €1* available under both Carrefour and national brands.
100 prices frozen for 100 days
To help its customers, Carrefour is freezing the prices on 100* everyday products for a period of 100 days. That means that until the end of the year, consumers can be certain of paying the same price for various products that they want.
Here are a few examples:
- Simpl bananas, €1.19/kg, €0.89/750g
- Brie, €9.09/kg, €2/220g
- Carrefour Crunchy Dark Chocolate, €3.70/kg, €1.85/500g
- Simpl white bread, €1.99/kg, €1.59/800g
A number of other initiatives are being implemented alongside the campaign to boost people’s purchasing power, such as five pieces of fruit and vegetables for under €1 and a computer for €1 per day.
Five pieces of fruit and vegetables for under €1
Carrefour is taking action for the food transition and encouraging its customers to eat a healthier diet. Carrefour is launching its five pieces of fruit and vegetables for under €1 initiative so that people can eat fruit and vegetables that are essential for their health: a concrete measure to bolster its customers’ purchasing power, while at the same time getting them to adopt a healthy diet.
A computer for €1 a day
Until 12 September, Carrefour is offering customers a laptop for €1 a day: Lenovo’s IdeaPad 3 15 CEL, for a total price of €299. A one-year subscription to Microsoft 365 is included. More information available on the cover page of the folder.
Purchasing power boosting measures all-year-round
Carrefour also has various other solutions available all year round to help reduce its customers’ spending. These include bonus challenges, bonus points giving customers discounts on future purchases and “Veggie Thursday” which gives customers 20% off a selection of vegan and vegetarian products. Some measures are available at key moments of the year, such as when children go back to school: school materials are on sale at €15 and the “five times refunded campaign” starts again in mid-October in the toy department as we gear up for Christmas and the New Year.
