Carrefour has made an announcement on the signing of a deal with Louis Delhaize Group for the acquisition of its activities in Romania.

These activities include the purchase of almost 2,400 workers as well as 10 Cora hypermarkets and 8 Cora Urban outlets. Carrefour’s presence in Romania will be strengthened as a result of this transaction thanks to the acquisition of hypermarkets situated in enviable locations, all of which will afterwards adopt the Carrefour format and brand.
It is important to note that the transaction is contingent on the approval of the competent competition authorities, and its conclusion is anticipated to take place by the end of 2023.

Carrefour has had a presence in Romania since 2001, and the company currently runs 43 hypermarkets, 189 supermarkets, 143 convenience stores, and 29 soft discount stores there.
