Oxnard, California, February 1, 2024 Mission Produce, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVO), a leading global company specializing in sourcing, producing, and distributing fresh Hass avocados, has revealed its participation at Fruit Logistica Berlin to introduce its innovative ripening solution, Mission Control. This technology sets a new standard for reliability in delivering ripe avocados to the UK market. Mission Control stands as the most advanced ripe room technology worldwide, offering precise atmosphere-controlled ripening. It has shown up to a 38 percent enhancement in quality consistency compared to conventional ripening systems.

Paul Frowde, Managing Director of Mission Produce UK and Europe, expressed confidence in the impact Mission Control will have on avocado demand in the UK. He emphasized Mission Produce’s unique mastery of ripening control, highlighting the unprecedented precision offered by Mission Control and distinguishing the company as a top-tier supplier of high-quality, ripe avocados.

Mission Control, developed in collaboration with Cross Refrigeration, a leading provider of advanced temperature control solutions, underwent rigorous testing in partnership with Dr. Jem Burdon, a postharvest specialist from The New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Limited. Adam Shaw, Technical Director of Mission Produce UK, highlighted the exclusive development of Mission Control, which has led to refined controls for optimal fruit ripening under varying conditions. This advancement is expected to revolutionize consumer acceptance of ripe avocados.

Commercial trials comparing Mission Control to standard ripening systems demonstrated significant improvements, particularly in ripening challenging fruit varieties and conditions. Mission Produce plans to leverage this success by doubling its ripening capacity at its Dartford distribution center in the UK, with all new ripening rooms equipped with Mission Control technology. Additionally, the company intends to expand its product range to include mangos, which will also benefit from Mission Control ripening.

Frowde emphasized Mission Produce’s commitment to enhancing the consumer experience through operational excellence, aiming to establish a strong market presence for avocados and mangos in the UK.
