Cambridge is the location of Tesco’s 2000th Express shop.
Tesco revealed today that its 2,000th Express store would open in Cambridge’s Lion Yard shopping centre.
This important accomplishment supports Tesco’s goal of becoming the most convenient retailer in the UK and reflects the company’s dedication to serving customers whenever, wherever, and however they choose to buy.
In order to provide value to more customers in more places, Tesco introduced the Express format in 1994. Since then, the format has been expanded, and nearly 80% of the UK is now within a 10-minute drive of an Express store.
Twenty new jobs will be created by the new store, which will also offer customers in Cambridge’s city centre lunch choices on-the-go and dinner for tonight meals.
Tesco will give 2,000 meals to nearby schools and make a special grant of £2,000 to local charities in honour of this achievement through its Community Grants Program.

1 77% of UK residents live within ten minutes of an Express shop
The shop can be found on Petty Cury, a street that is a component of the Lion Yard shopping centre. From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, the shop will be open. Through the Tesco Community Food Connection programme, which is run in collaboration with the nonprofit organisation FareShare, the store will give extra food. Every day, Tesco gives extra food from its stores across the UK to charities and foodbanks in order to provide millions of meals.
