UNIQUE JOB ALERT: EGG-STRA! ALDI BEGINS SEEKING CHIEF EASTER EGG TASTING OFFICERS

In order to fill this year’s “Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer” positions, supermarket Aldi is once again conducting a national search for aspiring chocolate connoisseurs.

Three fortunate candidates will each receive an abundance of Aldi’s new Easter eggs in addition to the work of a lifetime. In return, recruits will provide first-hand evaluations of the product line, providing feedback on its flavour, texture, and appearance that will help shape the supermarket’s 2024 product line.

The only requirements for this egg-stra special position are a love of sweet treats, titillating taste buds, and a respect for novel and intriguing flavours. It is open to applicants of all ages from across the country.

Candidates will need a camera (a smartphone will work) to make a brief audition video (roughly one minute long) and share it via the submission email address: aldichiefeggofficer@clarioncomms.co.uk explaining why they should be selected for the position. Participants should submit samples of their favourite Aldi chocolate along with any delectable anecdotes that might help them win the competition. On the CEEO website, you can find more information as well as terms and conditions.

Those applying for the position must act quickly and submit their recordings by the deadline of March 15. Successful candidates will start receiving their egg-cellent samples on March 20.

The announcement follows two years of successful recruitment. Hallie McIntosh, 10, of Fife, was selected to serve as one of Aldi’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officers in 2022 after impressing judges with her Willy Wonka impression. She called the position “the highlight of her year” and said it was the result of two years of successful recruitment. In his endearing application video, Connor Ewujowoh, 10, of Sunderland, also won over the evaluators with his description of Aldi’s Caramel Crunch and Jive Bars as his favourite chocolate ever. Finally, confectionery enthusiast and NHS employee Dawn Hill of Basingstoke won the part thanks to her endearing and straightforward assessments of the Aldi chocolate selection in her application video.

“Recruiting a panel of egg tasters gives us with a fantastic chance to engage with real Aldi shoppers,” said Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi. Our buying team’s efforts to create this year’s Easter range, which features an exciting array of new shapes, colours, and flavour combinations, have benefited greatly from the input we have collected from previous chocolate lovers.

A Dairyfine Peanut Butter Surprise Egg, a Rocky Road Drizzle Egg, and the fabulously decadent Wildflower Egg, hand decorated with edible pearls, are also must-have indulgences in this year’s lineup. The latter was named the “Best Milk Chocolate Egg 2023” by the Good Housekeeping Institute for its mouthwatering taste.

How to get in:

Candidates should send an explanation of their qualifications for the Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer position in a brief (about one minute) film to aldichiefeggofficer@clarioncomms.co.uk.
The application deadline is March 15th.
A choice of ten Easter eggs will be given to the chosen candidates by March 20.
On the CEEO Page, you can find more information about entering. Terms and restrictions do apply. Visit https://www.aldi.co.uk/chief-easter-egg-tasting-officer for the complete T&Cs.
