Over 1,000 prices have been lowered or locked in at low levels.
Over 600 prices have been frozen at their currently cheap price, and another 460 prices have been reduced.
The 1,000 items will be kept on hand for at least eight weeks at today’s price.
The most recent pledge comes after price cuts and fuel promotions in 2023.
Morrisons announced today that it would lower the prices of an additional 490 products and that it would lock in more than 1,000 products’ low rates for at least eight weeks.
Over 600 products, many of which have been held at that price since January, have been locked at their already low price in addition to the 460 price reductions.
The action comes in response to Morrisons’ January statement that it would maintain the price of the 1,000 cuts it was producing at the time for the following two months. Customers can feel secure knowing that, despite the market’s inflation, the prices of these 1,000 products won’t rise and will instead be fixed to help them plan their grocery budgets.
Price reductions are available on a variety of commonplace goods, including dairy products, fresh meat and seafood, fruit and vegetables, freezer fillers, baby essentials, and pet food. As the cost of living crisis continues to have an effect on family grocery budgets, the cuts are intended to make customers’ money go further.
Some of the new products that will be sold at lower rates include Fillippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml, which is now £4.50 instead of £6.49, Meridian Crunchy Peanut Butter 475g, which is now £3.00 instead of £3.80, and Purina ONE Cat Salmon & Rice 800g, which is now £4.99 instead of £7.40.
In recent months, Morrisons has spent £148 million to lower prices. In addition to the 1,000 price reductions in January, 65 additional own-brand goods saw price reductions in February. Two additional 5p off fuel promos, the introduction of My Morrisons Exclusives for My Morrisons members, new offers and promotions in Morrisons cafés, including an £8.99 set menu, and more have all been added. Additionally, there is a current Easter collector programme available to qualified My Morrisons members, allowing them to qualify and shop during the appropriate weeks in exchange for a sizeable money-off coupon to use at Easter.
Morrisons’ Chief Customer & Marketing Officer, Rachel Eyre, stated: “In January, we reduced the cost of 1,000 goods and pledged to hold onto that cost for at least eight weeks. We are currently engaged in a second wave of action to maintain low prices well into the spring. The news of today provides additional proof of our dedication to lowering costs and improving the financial situation of our clients.
