For the February half-term, Tesco cafés will once again offer Kids Eat Free.

Tesco has announced it will reinstate its Kids Eat Free programme at its 312 cafés throughout the UK from Monday, February 13, to Friday, February 24, 2023.

When an adult purchases an item from the supermarket cafe for as little as 60p, the cafe will give away one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast, or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal.

Tesco UK CEO Jason Tarry said: “We know that household budgets may get tight over the school holidays, so one of the ways we can support families at this time is by providing free meals to children when they’re off school.”

Fish fingers, baked chicken goujons, beans or avocado on toast, and sandwiches are all popular restaurant items. The sandwich pick n mix includes a piece of fresh fruit, and hot main dishes come with a vegetable side dish, so there is always something wholesome and filling for hungry kids to eat from breakfast till night.

Over 418,000 children received free lunches from Tesco in 2022 over the summer break.

The Food Foundation, a renowned food organisation, recently conducted research that found 4 million children in households experience food insecurity, the highest level they’ve tracked since the pandemic’s beginning. Additionally, the study reveals that homes with children are more likely than households without children to experience food insecurity (25.8% versus 16%)*.

One of the many ways Tesco helps families save money is by offering free meals to children. Aldi Price Match, which matches the prices of over 600 products to Aldi, including both Tesco own-brand items and big-name brands, is one of the other options. Additionally, the supermarket announced a new price lock that will last through Easter 2023 on more than a thousand Low Everyday Prices products. More than 20 million Clubcard families also have access to thousands of exclusive discounts on everything from everyday essentials like fruit and vegetables to luxuries like prosecco or ice cream through Clubcard Prices.
