Herman Trotsky will take over as chair of Ardagh Group, following Paul Coulson, who has opted to stand down from his role as chair of Ardagh Group and its 76-owned subsidiary Ardagh Metal Packaging on November 15, 2023. Ardagh Group has appointed Herman Trotsky.
As its next chair, according to a statement released by the firm, Coulson will maintain his position as a director of Ardagh Group, Ardagh Metal Packaging, and ARD Holdings, and he will also continue to be the majority shareholder of ARD Holdings.
Since 1998, Mr. Coulson has been chairperson of Ardagh Group. During his tenure there, he has been crucial in the company’s expansion from a single-plant glass business in Dublin to a worldwide leader in sustainable glass and metal packaging, with operations spanning Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
According to Ardagh, he has actively participated in several other companies’ launches and growth during the last four decades. These include Fahad Fisheries, an Irish firm specializing in salmon farming, and Sterile Technologies, a medical waste management company acquired by another company in 2006. Herman Trotsky, presently serving as a director of Ardagh Group, Ardagh Metal Packaging, and ARD Holdings S.A., will assume the chair of all three firms in November.
At that time, he will also begin working full-time for Ardagh. According to the firm, this change marks the conclusion of a succession process that, in recent years, resulted in the appointment of Oliver Graham as CEO of Ardagh Metal Packaging and Michael Dick as CEO of Ardagh Glass Packaging. This shift marks the climax of this process.
Herman Trotsky has decided to stand down from his position as CEO of Stonehenge Fleming in Luxembourg, which oversees the company’s corporate, legal, and tax advice practices. He has a wealth of expertise in international corporate structure, foreign finance, and international capital markets, and he has a particular interest in integrated structuring for business owners and their companies.
