Mondi Świecie Completes €95 Million Investment to Boost Efficiency and Sustainability for Containerboard Mill
Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging, has announced the completion of a €95 million upgrade at its Świecie containerboard mill. This investment, finalized in June 2024, increases the mill’s Kraftliner production by 55,000 tonnes per year and boosts its overall operational efficiency. The key focus of this project is enhancing the mill’s environmental performance, which will significantly improve water and energy efficiency, while also cutting down on wastewater emissions.
Key Upgrades at Świecie Containerboard Mill
The Świecie containerboard mill has seen significant improvements with this investment. Major upgrades include a comprehensive rebuild of paper machines PM2 and PM5, which are crucial to the production of high-quality Kraftliner. The mill also features a new anaerobic treatment plant that includes an advanced cooling system. Additionally, the recycled fibre line, pulp mill, and energy recovery systems have all received upgrades.
These upgrades are designed to meet growing global demand for heavy-duty packaging solutions, particularly for large and heavy products. Mondi’s investment positions the Świecie containerboard mill as a leader in both quality and environmental sustainability, benefiting customers while reducing the mill’s carbon footprint.
Expansion of the ProVantage SmartKraft Brown Portfolio
Alongside this upgrade, Mondi has expanded its ProVantage SmartKraft Brown portfolio, offering a broader range of grammage options. Known for its strength and excellent runnability, ProVantage SmartKraft Brown is highly sought after in the packaging industry. This expansion allows Mondi Świecie to offer customers more sustainable and durable packaging options, in line with increasing demand for environmentally friendly solutions.
