Mondi Świecie Improves Efficiency and Sustainability for Containerboard Mill with €95 Million Investment
A global expert in sustainability packaging, Mondi has disclosed the completion of a €95 million investment upgrade at the Świecie’s containerboard mill. The investment, which was signed off in June 2024, enhances the mill’s operational efficiency by adding 55,000 tonnes per annum of Kraftliner production. This project is primarily focused on improving the mill’s environmental performance, especially in terms of wastewater discharges, energy usage, and water consumption.
Notable Improvements at Świecie Containerboard Mill
With this investment, the Świecie containerboard mill has received a number of features that greatly enhance its capabilities. These include scaling and modernization of vital paper machines PM2 and PM5 that produce high quality Kraftliner. The mill is also equipped with a new anaerobic treatment plant with cooling tower. Other improvements include the recycled fibre line, pulp mill, and the energy recovery systems.
These improvements were made to address the increasing global market for heavy-duty packaging products, especially those for large and heavy items. By making this investment, Mondi is establishing the Świecie containerboard mill as a benchmark for quality, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, which benefits customers and helps decrease the mill’s carbon emissions.
Growing features of the ProVantage SmartKraft Brown Portfolio
In conjunction with this upgrade, Mondi broadened its ProVantage SmartKraft Brown portfolio by adding additional grammage range options. ProVantage SmartKraft Brown is well known in the packaging sector for its strength, excellent runnability, and its sought after status. This optimization gives more customers at Mondi Świecie the ability to purchase more eco-friendly and tough packaging products amid the growing need for sustainable products.
