Hinojosa Packaging Wins Cartoon of the Year Crown

Hinojosa Packaging Galería Gráfica has done it again. The Spanish packaging innovator grabbed the spotlight at the European Carton Excellence Awards 2024 in Berlin. Their eye-catching design for a perfume collection won the reputable ‘Carton of the Year’ title.

The annual event, known as the Oscars of folding carton packaging awards, drew entries from across Europe. Judges had their work cut out for them. They looked at design, sustainability, and how easy the packages were to use.

But Hinojosa’s creation stood out from the crowd. The winning design was made for Laboratorios Flor Natural Parfums’ Origen collection. It combined inner printing, side die-cutting, and embossing to create a 3D effect.

A Rainbow of Fragrances

The package wasn’t just pretty – it was smart too. Hinojosa Packaging Galería Gráfica came up with seven different models. When displayed together, they create a colorful scene that catches the eye.

This isn’t just about looking good on the shelf. The design shows how packaging can be both beautiful and practical. It protects the product while also helping to sell it.

Juan Pérez, lead designer at Hinojosa, shared his thoughts. “We wanted to create something special,” he said. “Something that would make people stop and look twice. I think we succeeded.”

Cardboard: The Future of Packaging?

At the awards, there was a lot of talk about cardboard. Many see it as key to making packaging more eco-friendly. It works for everyday items and luxury goods alike.

Hinojosa Packaging Galería Gráfica knows this well. They’ve been pushing the limits of what cardboard can do since joining the Hinojosa Group in 2020. Their focus is on high-end packaging for perfumes, cosmetics, and gourmet foods.

María Rodríguez, CEO of Hinojosa, was thrilled with the win. “This award shows we’re on the right track,” she said. “We’re proving that sustainable packaging can also be luxurious.”

Looking Ahead

The win at the European Carton Excellence Awards 2024 is a big deal for Hinojosa. It puts them in the spotlight as leaders in packaging design. But they’re not resting on their laurels.

“We’re always looking for new ways to innovate,” Rodríguez added. “This award motivates us to push even harder.”

As packaging becomes more important in a world focused on sustainability, companies like Hinojosa are leading the way. They’re showing that with a bit of creativity, cardboard can be both eco-friendly and elegant.

The perfume industry is taking note. As are other luxury goods makers. It seems the future of packaging might just be made of cardboard – folded, cut, and embossed into works of art.
