Ocado Launches Gourmet Frozen Meals for Cats And Dogs

British online supermarket Ocado has introduced gourmet frozen meals for cats and dogs through pet food innovator Ted’s Bowl. This move highlights a growing trend towards premium pet care, offering “fine dining” experiences for pets across the UK.

Frozen Meals for Cats and Dogs

Ted’s Bowl focuses on creating healthy, artisan foods that cater to pets’ discerning tastes. These meals contain high-quality meat, fish, and poultry, all fit for human consumption. Rich in essential vitamins and minerals, these meals stand out by excluding common additives like bones and grains. Prices range from £4.49 to £4.59, making luxury meals affordable.

The new lineup features seven microwavable frozen options for puppies, kittens, and adult cats and dogs. These include lamb with garden mint and venison with blackberries for dogs, as well as beef and salmon with chicken for cats. These dishes offer convenience and variety, helping pet owners provide top-quality nutrition without hassle.

Meri La Bella, Ocado’s pet food buyer, expressed excitement about these gourmet, microwave-ready meals. She believes they could transform pet feeding, combining convenience with superior nutrition.

This launch comes as UK pet ownership rises, especially among younger urban residents. Sara Pearson, co-founder of Ted’s Bowl, emphasized that this new generation of pet owners values high-quality, freshly prepared food. The surge in pet adoptions during the COVID-19 pandemic further fuels growth and innovation in the pet food sector.

As the mid-2020s unfold, Ocado and Ted’s Bowl are driving a shift towards sophisticated, health-conscious pet care. Pets are becoming not just companions but partakers in the fine dining experience.
