Yves CLAUDE is appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Auchan Retail
Following on from the governance announcements made in early 2021, Yves CLAUDE was
appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Auchan Retail.
The move initiated in January 2021 to decentralise to the countries, empowering and giving
and greater autonomy to all Auchan employees (support for the Chief Executive Officer of
each country via a Chairman/Vice-Chairman pairing), has been reaffirmed. With the
appointment of Yves CLAUDE, this move improves Auchan Retail’s agility, coordination and
ability to take rapid decisions.
Yves CLAUDE takes over from Edgard BONTE, who successfully turned around Auchan
Retail.
Yves CLAUDE has a deep understanding of the retail sector, both in France and
internationally. For 40 years, he held successive positions at Decathlon as Department
Manager, Store Director, Regional Director, Country CEO (Spain then France), Group CFO,
International Development Director, Group CEO, and Asia Leader in charge of production
and business operations. Before joining Auchan Retail, he was CEO of Decathlon in
Singapore and Mainland China.
He was also a member of the Adeo and Auchan China Boards of Directors.
