With the entry into two new states in 2024, Walmart Health will almost double in size.
Our mission has been clear ever since we opened the first Walmart Health centre in 2019: to service our communities by offering convenient, affordable healthcare. Our healthcare professionals cultivate relationships within their areas in addition to caring for patients.
Consider Dr. Umara Saleem at our facility in Brandon, Florida. She spent an hour convincing a middle-aged patient who presented with clear signs of a heart attack to get emergency treatment, despite the fact that the patient was wary of hospitals. The patient had a 99% blockage in her artery, so the outcome could have been very severe if Dr. Saleem had not persisted. This patient thanked Dr. Saleem in person after receiving the emergency treatment she required, and she has since continued to see her for routine primary care appointments to manage her overall health. By getting convenient care where she already shops for necessities and nutritious food, this patient and other members of her community can live better.
I’m thrilled to share that we will be expanding significantly in 2024, adding 28 additional Walmart Health centre locations. This will increase Walmart Health’s influence in Texas and broaden it to include the states of Missouri and Arizona. We’ll have more than 75 Walmart Health locations across the country by the end of 2024.
With this expansion in 2024, we will almost double our present footprint, providing convenient, affordable care in two new states and growing our presence in Texas to support the communities we serve in leading healthier, more fulfilling lives.

In the first quarter of 2024, the first of the new Walmart Health facilities will open. The precise growing areas consist of:
10 areas in the Dallas metropolitan region
8 places in the Houston metropolitan region
six places in the Phoenix metro region
4 sites in the metro area of Kansas City, MO
As we have done since the beginning, we’ll keep expanding and changing at a responsible rate to better support the neighbourhoods in which we live and work. We hope to put some of the patient feedback we’ve heard into practise with these new sites. So that patients spend less time in the waiting area and more time with their doctor, we are, for instance, altering the center’s physical footprint and layout. In order to give both our providers and patients access to the finest possible healthcare technology, we have also integrated contemporary equipment and technology. Included in this is the integration of Epic’s electronic health record platform across all of our Walmart Health sites.
Our dedication to meeting a patient’s entire health requirements will endure, which is why our centres will continue to be staffed with qualified medical professionals such as doctors, dentists, behavioural health specialists, community health workers, and more. We opened our Fort Smith, Arkansas, centre last year with a staff that had a combined 325 years of healthcare expertise.
We chose to introduce our one-stop healthcare model to these communities because we are aware that the cost and convenience of healthcare continue to be barriers for many Americans. Walmart Health is in a unique position to offer high-quality, reasonably priced health and wellness services where our neighbours already reside and shop, with 90% of the U.S. population living within 10 miles of a Walmart.
When patients come to us, they expect to get high-quality care that fits into their timetable and is affordable. Additionally, we have heard from our providers that they value the team-based model of care that honours all clinicians and allows them to exercise their full scope of practise.
The brand-new, cutting-edge facilities, which will be 5,750 square feet in size and housed inside Walmart Supercenters, will offer Walmart Health’s complete range of medical services to busy families. Primary care, dental treatment, behavioural health, labs and X-rays, audiology, and Walmart Health Virtual Care telehealth services are all included in the list of services.
