The Waitrose Kings Road store reopens its doors.

Following a thorough renovation, Waitrose Kings Road will today reopen its doors to clients in the Chelsea region.

We have improved the features customers already liked, such as our meat and fish counters and our wine department, and have also developed new areas for customers to enjoy while shopping with us, including a new cheese & deli counter and a dry-aged beef cabinet. The mini sushi counter, self-serve hot chicken, and a John Lewis section, which enables customers to purchase a variety of John Lewis homeware items while doing their food buying, are additional services offered in our remodelled store.

Counters on Kings Road, WR

With the reopening of the counters, our customers will be able to take advantage of a variety of amazing counter-only specials as well as the discounts provided by our myWaitrose program, which entitles customers to a 20% discount on a number of meat and seafood counter items. Along with fantastic discounts, myWaitrose customers visiting our Kings Road store can now use our ‘ScanPayGo’ option through their Waitrose app on their phone, making it one of the simplest and quickest methods to shop with us in-store.

48 new jobs have been created as a result of the store’s new and improved features to guarantee that we always provide our customers with the best possible customer service while they shop with us. These positions will be spread out across our counters, checkout lanes, and store management and replenishment.

Wall tiled by WR Kings Road

Additionally, we were able to restore the tiled wall that the neighbourhood adored so much. The Chelsea area was the focus of the design when Reptile Tiles first installed the tiles in 1999, so Peter Jones and other notable local structures and people from the time were portrayed in the artwork.

We’re delighted to have some new offerings for customers, such as our dry-aged beef cabinet and our cheese & deli counter, and we’ve made some fantastic improvements during the renovation.

*The renovation of the Waitrose store is a part of a larger redevelopment project for the King’s Road’s core area, which also includes new community and retail space, rental homes, and a rooftop bar.
Since November 1981, Waitrose has been a fixture at 196 Kings Road, SW3.
The renovation operation got under way in April 2018
The branch’s interim space was reduced from 16,500 square feet in December 2020 to 8,000 square feet in February 2021.
Since February 2021, the store has operated as a small supermarket. (temp store closed 31 Dec 2022 to allow for work to be completed). The store has grown back to its former size since reopening.
