Tesco Launches Big Drive to Fill 26,000 Festive Jobs

If you’re searching for work this Christmas season, Tesco has 26,000 temporary roles available. This year, the supermarket giant is hiring extra staff to support its customers during the busy festive period.

Festive Roles Across the UK

These positions will be spread across the UK in Tesco’s Superstores and Extra stores. The main tasks for these temporary colleagues will include picking items for online orders, restocking shelves, and supporting permanent team members. Tesco aims to offer great service to its customers during this busy time.

Alexandra Brown, Group People Services Director, explained:
“We’ve begun recruiting for our festive colleagues, and we’re looking to hire 26,000 people to help make Christmas special for our customers. We’re looking for people who enjoy being part of a team and are willing to go the extra mile to help customers.”

Opportunities for All

These temporary festive roles at Tesco offer the chance to work both day and night shifts. Positions range from working on checkouts, picking orders for home delivery, or replenishing stock. It’s a chance to meet new people, learn valuable skills, and be part of a welcoming, diverse team.

Alexandra added,
“Last year, we received a fantastic response for these festive jobs, and we’d love to hear from anyone who worked with us last Christmas. We have part-time, temporary positions available across Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man, with different shift patterns to suit various needs and lifestyles.”

Career Clinics for Job Seekers

To make applying even easier, Tesco will be holding Career Clinics across the UK in November. At these clinics, anyone interested in festive roles can get an interview on the spot. The clinics are designed to help people who aren’t currently working overcome common challenges like lacking skills, low confidence, or needing support during the hiring process.

The Path to Permanent Roles

Once the Christmas season ends, Tesco encourages its festive colleagues to apply for any permanent positions that become available. Many temporary staff have stayed on, including Jay Styles, who shared his positive experience of working at Tesco.

Jay, who works at the Hednesford store in Staffordshire, said:
“Growing up with autism, I struggled with socializing and lacked self-esteem. But after joining Tesco, my confidence grew, and I started believing in myself. I enjoy serving customers, making friends with my colleagues, and doing my best at my job. I was made permanent after working as a Christmas colleague, and I always feel supported by Tesco and the management team. I highly recommend Tesco as a great place to work.”
