Sysco Team Volunteers 17,000 Hours in First Global Purpose Month

Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY), a top global foodservice distribution company, proudly shared that its employees volunteered nearly 17,000 hours during its inaugural global purpose month in November 2023. This event showcased the company’s commitment to connecting the world through food and caring for others.

Sysco employees took part in 500+ company-sponsored events or volunteered independently across the United States, Canada, Sri Lanka, the U.K., and Ireland. Over 125 Sysco locations organized activities like meal packing for hunger relief, assembling amenity kits, hosting blood drives, and creating cards for military care packages.

Neil Russell, Sysco’s Chief Administrative Officer, expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishments, emphasizing the impact of collective effort on International Volunteer Day. He highlighted the significance of supporting communities during the holiday season and how this aligns with Sysco’s goal of donating $500 million worth of aid by 2025.

Sites with the most participation and volunteer hours per employee will win a donation prize for a hunger-focused charity of their choosing. To discover more about Sysco’s Volunteer Recognition Program and its Global Good Goal, refer to Sysco’s 2023 Sustainability Report.
