SPAR Pakistan backs campaigns to plant trees.
The previous year, SPAR Pakistan, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), planted one thousand mangrove plants in Sandspit, which is located in Karachi.
The Pakistani government has a lofty goal of planting ten billion trees throughout the period of 2018-2023 as part of an ambitious tree-planting campaign. SPAR Pakistan is dedicated to maintaining its support for that project and has plans to organise additional tree-planting activities in the near future.
Planting of trees with a focus on the community
In this spirit of sustainability, SPAR Pakistan conducted a campaign called “Buy a Bag, Plant a Tree” to earn funds for the tree planting effort. The campaign promoted the usage of eco-friendly reusable bags and encouraged their purchase.
SPAR Pakistan was able to gather enough money to purchase one thousand trees by collecting donations, selling these bags, and funding some of the purchase themselves.
The WWF Wetland Centre & Reserve is home to a dedicated plantation that was made possible thanks to a relationship with the WWF.
Even the youngest of customers was given attention during the period that was devoted to the topic of sustainability.
Children were encouraged to participate in an art competition by submitting drawings at their neighbourhood SPAR Supermarket, with the artwork focusing on the importance of tree planting.
Planting of trees on a global scale
In honour of the company’s 90th anniversary and the fact that it was established in 1932, SPAR International has begun a campaign to encourage people to plant trees.
SPAR country organisations have shown their support for this initiative by forming partnerships with a wide variety of entities.
As a result, the number of trees that are being planted all over the world has increased to over 37,000 to this point.
The counter on our website is kept up to date in real time with the latest information as additional trees are planted in local communities all over the world.
