SPAR Hungary invests over €2.2 million in hypermarket modernisation

SPAR Hungary has invested over €2.2 million in the modernization of its INTERSPAR Hypermarket in Szentendre, 20km northwest of Budapest. The store offers customers in and near Szentendre a modern, welcoming retail environment with new flooring, LED lighting, and energy-saving solutions.

The store layout has changed slightly during the renovation, with the customer entrance opening into the non-food department. The hypermarket now also features a dedicated area for health-conscious nutrition and organic and sugar-free foods, as well as an extensive range of SPAR Own Brand and SPAR Enjoy convenience products.

The company refurbished the hypermarket, installing new equipment, including modern refrigerators, fresh produce racks, bakery department fixtures, and self-service checkouts. State-of-the-art LED lighting helps save energy, as do the new freezers, which are now equipped with doors.

“The hypermarket in Szentendre plays a central role in supplying the city and the region, which is why we invested in renewing it. In the course of the modernization, we took into account the ever-changing customer demands and environmental sustainability requirements. We also created new, comfortable working facilities for our team members”, said Márk Maczelka, SPAR Hungary’s Head of Communications.

The store employs 92 colleagues, including the online shop team members. SPAR Hungary’s online shop and its in-store pick-up facility are becoming increasingly popular in and around Szentendre.
