SPAR Gran Canaria has officially opened a modern new logistics centre exclusively for refrigerated and frozen goods. The El Goro industrial estate, which is 4,455 square meters in area, two stories tall, and situated next to the company headquarters, will serve as the new centre. The investment further demonstrates SPAR’s dedication to enhancing supply chain and service delivery processes.
The ground floor is 3,770 square meters in area, containing four large cold rooms capable of maintaining temperature range of 0-4 °C for refrigerated goods and -18 to -25 °C for frozen products. In addition to the cold rooms, the ground level also has reception and office spaces. Offices, meeting rooms, changing area, dining space, quality control areas and storage for transport roll-carts make up the upper floor.

For better logistical efficiency, the centre is equipped with six loading bays to allow quick and efficient loading and unloading of goods. Goods delivered to SPAR Supermarkets around the island are transported in isothermally tracked mobile containers that control temperature, ensuring safe transit of the goods.
The newest logistics center has opened up 27 job positions, offering specialized training for employees dealing with refrigerated and frozen products. SPAR Gran Canaria now has three logistics centers that span a combined 29,600 square meters. These facilities aid 198 SPAR Supermarkets, strengthening the company’s supply chain and expansion prospects in the region.
