SPAR Austria Expands Graz Logistics Centre with €51M Investments
In its operational growth, SPAR Austria has merged its logistics center in Graz with a €51 million investment, which is a milestone mark. This enhancement, which took approximately two years to build and finished in September of 2024, is the fifth phase of development for the facility. The company sought to accomplish this goal to balance the supply of goods with the rising demand for products in Styria and Southern Burgunland which exceeds 1.4 million people.

The automated warehouse that SPAR Austria has opened with the help of logisticians KNAPP In modernizing the logistics center has a super high bay pallet warehouse cube-shaped structure which has a 40 percent expanded capacity with an additional 12,000 spaces for pallets. The customers will have no problems receiving services because SPAR Austria boosted the working performance of the company which is set out in the development plan.

Hans K. Reisch, the CEO of SPAR Austria, took pride in the company’s attempts to bolster its position as one of the leading food retailers. Reisch added, “With these expansions, we are enhancing our logistical capabilities and once more confirming our position as a dependable local supplier, while we continue working on being the leading food retailer who gives the best service.”
In conjunction with the warehouse expansion, SPAR Austria also adopted a new photovoltaic system located on the roof of the logistics center. This system generates electricity six times more than the previous one, increasing output from 114 kilowatts peak to an astonishing 700 kilowatts peak. This green initiative enhances SPAR’s sustainability goals by enabling the company to cut back its carbon emissions while providing a more sustainable energy source for the logistics activities.
