Israel, Sept. 17, 2024 – Pickommerce, a leader in warehouse automation. It has announced a $3.4 million investment to expand its innovative robotic piece-picking technology. The company aims to further develop its PickoBot, a cutting-edge robot designed to enhance warehouse efficiency and reduce operational costs. The funding round was led by IL Ventures and included key players like InNegev, Fusion VC, the Israel Innovation Authority, and ZIM Ventures.
The global warehouse automation market is expected to grow rapidly, with projected expansion to nearly $9 billion by 2029. Despite advancements in warehouse automation, the final “pick and pack” process still heavily depends on human workers. With a global shortage of workers in these roles, robotic piece-picking technology is becoming essential for modern warehouses.
PickoBot addresses this challenge with a fully autonomous solution. The robot uses advanced computer vision and machine learning to handle objects of various sizes, textures, and weights. The bot’s AI-driven system selects the best gripping method, improving efficiency and minimizing errors. This allows Pickommerce to serve industries like e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, among others.
“We are driving change in an industry where manual picking still dominates,” said Yoni Heilbronn, Managing Partner at IL Ventures. “Pickommerce’s technology offers an efficient, agile, and cost-effective solution.”
PickoBot’s recent installation at Havivian Farm, one of Israel’s largest organic farms, showcases its adaptability. The farm uses the robot to handle delicate produce, reducing packing costs and ensuring faster deliveries. “PickoBot helps us efficiently pack fresh produce, ensuring our goods reach customers in perfect condition,” shared Boaz Havivian, owner of Havivian Farms.
Kfir Nissim, Co-Founder and CEO of Pickommerce, highlighted the strong demand for their robotic piece-picking technology. “We’re redefining warehouse operations with PickoBot’s unmatched flexibility and precision.”
Pickommerce’s investment marks a significant step forward in autonomous warehousing. The future of the robotic piece-picking technology promises greater efficiency, cost savings, and innovation across multiple industries.
