Maersk develops a dedicated facility for batteries for electric vehicles.

Teplice: With the establishment of a 14,000-square-meter warehouse with a focus on handling electric vehicle battery packs, A.P., as a preferred logistics partner for the Central European automobile sector and original equipment manufacturers, Moller-Maersk (Maersk) is increasing its portfolio of OEMs.

Teplice, which is situated in the northern portion of the Czech Republic, is not far from several Czech automakers and suppliers, in addition to Eastern and Southern Germany.

Train service from the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Koper, or Rijeka can supply the batteries effectively. The batteries can be delivered from Teplice to the nearby vehicle manufacturing facilities in a timely manner because of its good connectivity to the German and Czech road networks.

We are an experienced and trusted partner in transportation and logistics for automotive customers. Our processes are widely audited and approved by car makers and OEMs. We are thrilled that we are taking the next step now with this special warehouse, offering dedicated services for electric car batteries right in the heart of the Czech and German car maker clusters.

Maersk Central South Europe Managing Director

To ensure the optimum handling of the electric car batteries, the warehouse has a full complement of safety features. The warehouse will be separated into four separate, fire-resistant compartments, along with thermal surveillance cameras and in-rack sprinklers.

In-depth quality checks, battery charging, and other value-adding services along automotive supply chains are among the additional services provided in the specialized warehouse in addition to repacking.

Additionally, Maersk is constructing a brand-new deep-water terminal in Rijeka, which is anticipated to open in 2025. By dramatically reducing transit times and, consequently, CO2 emissions of transportation from Asia to Europe, particularly to Croatia, the Czech Republic, and neighboring nations, it will increase handling capacity in the Eastern Adriatic.
