In October 2022, the Kesko Group’s revenues came to €1,039.0 million, an increase in comparable terms of 6.0%.
In both the building and technical trade division and the grocery trade division, Kesko’s sales increased in October. Sales in the grocery trade segment increased by 5.0%, with Kespro experiencing particularly significant sales growth. Thanks to a good showing in B2B trade, sales for the building and technical trade business increased by 8.8% in comparable terms. Sales were down 0.7% in the vehicle trade business, according to Kesko President and CEO Mikko Helander.
In October, sales in the grocery trade segment increased by 5.0% to €523.4 million. Sales of groceries to the K Group’s grocery stores climbed by 4.7% on a yearly basis. Home and specialty items (non-food) sales declined at K-Citymarket. Sales at Kespro increased by 12.3%.
The building and technical trade division’s sales in October totaled €440.0 million, an increase of 8.8% in local currency-adjusted terms. Sales for the division increased by 9.0% in comparable terms without the trade in specialty goods. Sales increased by 10.6% in Finland, 12.8% in Sweden, and 2.5% in Norway in comparable terms. Sales in the leisure trade climbed by 5.8% in the specialty products sector. The building and technical trade sectors reported revenues that rose by 7.3%.
Sales in the car trade segment came to €78.5 million in October, down 0.7%. The lack of car availability has an influence on sales. Compared to the previous year, fewer new cars were registered, with passenger car registrations declining by 6.3% and van registrations by 1.1%. In Finland, the number of secondhand cars sold fell by 7.7% from the previous year.

The building and technical commerce business finished acquiring Byggarnas Partner in 2021 and stopped running the Kookenkä shoe chain. In 2022, Kesko has finished the acquisitions of the Swedish Kungälvs Trävaruaktiebolaget in March, the Norwegian Seljord Elektriske AS in June, Föllinge Sg AB and Djurbergs Järnhandel Aktiebolaget in September, and XL-BYGG Bergslagen AB in October.
