In a cook-off to benefit the FMI Foundation, Kroger and Kellogg collaborate to win first place.

The mission of the foundation is to advance knowledge in the fields of health and welfare.

31 January 2023, Cincinnati (PRNewswire) America’s largest retailer, The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), and the Kellogg Company (NYSE: K), today announced that their team of chefs won the Gold Mitt Award for Best Theme Execution in the Stir it Up! live cooking competition hosted by the Food Marketing Institute Foundation in Orlando, Florida, as part of the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference. Suppliers and retailers competed to come up with the finest family dinner theme. With their prize-winning cuisine and theme, Kellogg Company Chefs Matt Jost and Becca Kapela and Kroger Our Brands Chef Mike Florea took home the top prizes.

Nothing unites people like food and a worthwhile cause, according to Kroger Chef Mike Florea. “It was an honor to collaborate with Kellogg to develop a daring family supper that promotes camaraderie and funds the food safety and nutrition initiatives of the FMI Foundation. We are happy to have created a menu that emphasizes several of our different brands and makes dishes that are simple and reasonably priced for consumers across the nation, despite the fierce competition from our fellow chefs.”

The FMI Foundation, which is committed to delivering essential research and education to address issues with food safety, health, and nutrition, received 100% of the event’s earnings, which totaled more than $730,000.

Erin Riggs, Vice President of the Kellogg Kroger team, remarked, “Working with Kroger to get inventive with our items for the benefit of others was simply amazing. “Such occasions beautifully compliment our mission to build better days and a seat at the table for everyone.”

The unstoppable chef team dazzled the panel of judges with a sweet and savory cuisine that included five dishes and was influenced by strong flavors, including:

Private Selection® pork loin stew with apple and avocado pico
Avocado salad with Cheez-It sope and Morning Star chick’n tinga
Refried beans, cilantro lime rice, and ranchero sauce are available at Kroger.
Salted caramel-filled churros and strawberry milkshake milk with cereal and whipped cream
drunken churro Served with a toasted waffle stick, the egg nog milkshake
