Herzberg will soon get a new structure thanks to EDEKA.

EDEKA Minden-Hannover, the cooperatively organised EDEKA network’s regional company with the biggest turnover, is making preparations to build a new EDEKA store on Leipziger Straße in Herzber.

The location of the new store has not yet been determined. The second half of the year 2024 is set as the target time for the reopening of the store,

which will feature a sales area of around 2,000 square metres along with service counters for meat, sausage, cheese and baked goods.

Roland Hohne, a self-employed businessman who is also an honorary board member of EDEKA Minden-Hannover and who already owns and manages markets in the nearby cities of Annaburg, Jessen, and Bad Liebenwerda, will be the proprietor of the new market.

Roland Hohne expresses his delight at the prospect of his team and him being able to “share our passion for food with customers in Herzberg in the future,” and adds that he is “pleased” to be able to do so.

The municipal housing organisation Elsteraue was given the responsibility of taking over the entire planning of the neighbourhood.

This association was also responsible for developing single-family house plots as well as residential units in multi-story residential construction on the other side of the street.

After the completion of the required steps for the development plan, the responsibility for the special area for food stores was transferred to the new owner, which is EDEKA Minden-Hannover.

The construction of the new building is slated to begin at the end of the year when the building permission has been received. In addition, the construction of the roundabout,

which will include a bus stop with barrier-free access to the market as well as a cycling path connection, is scheduled to begin simultaneously with the new building. EDEKA Minden-Hannover is responsible for ensuring the development of the bicycle route that will extend from the vicinity of the market to Anhalter Straße.

“Herzberg is a great position, will focus even more heavily on the railway station in the future and provide its people appealing offerings,” says Paul Fieseler, who works in the Expansion section of EDEKA Minden-Hannover.

” “I am confident that the future market will play a deciding role in this development, as it will continue to play a role in this development in the years to come.”
