Customer-centered practises, a simple layout, and roomy cash desks and aisles persuade the jury.
The MARKTKAUF register area This year, Melle will receive the honour of having “Germany’s best checkout area.” The industry publication “Rundschau für dem Lebensmittelhandel” bestows the prize each year. The winners have now been announced at the Food Hotel in Neuwied after a drawn-out selection procedure.
The “Rundschau für dem Lebensmittelhandel” (Rundschau for the food trade) honours exceptional checkout areas in the German food retail trade every year. These zones must be customer-oriented in terms of range and positioning, have an emotive design, and excel in terms of technical advancements. The submitted applications were thoroughly reviewed and checked against a list of requirements. A specialised jury made many unannounced visits to the candidates, testing their actual performance in day-to-day operations. Range, positioning, aesthetics, design, as well as creative and useful solutions, were all taken into consideration.
For shop manager André Grube, it is a huge honour that the jury selected the MARKTKAUF Melle checkout area: “I am very proud of my staff and their performance. This first position is a wonderful motivator for us and demonstrates the value of our employees’ creative effort. It simultaneously motivates us to keep going. The jury was especially taken with the concepts’ strong focus on the needs of the consumer, which they described as “exemplary.” For wheelchair users, MARKTKAUF Melle has extra-wide aisles and pay registers to make shopping as comfortable as possible.
