Gains industry recognition for SPAR Hungary

Several SPAR Hungary stores and products have excelled in recent months, earning major business and industry awards. The Trade Magazine’s “StarStore Retailer of the Year” went to SPAR Hungary this year. It was given in recognition of the company’s creative own-brand products, domestic, health-conscious goods, and sustainability efforts.
The Trade Magazine’s StarStore competition presented four honors.
SPAR Hungary won the titles of “Supermarket Chain of the Year 202” and “Popular Retail Chain of the Year 2022” at Trade Magazine’s “StarStore 2022: Retailer of the Year” competition, as well as the title of “Retailer of the Year 2022” in Hungary. Highlights include the INTERSPAR Hypermarket in Kaposvár, which was named “Hypermarket of the Year” after being opened last year with a total investment of almost €27 million.

In this year’s Trade Competition for Hungarian Products, SPAR Hungary placed second according to votes from producers. Together with Trade Magazine, the non-profit organization Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft., which identifies and registers domestic products, launched the award. The honor was given to SPAR Hungary at the Business Days gathering, which took place in Tapolca from September 19 to 23.

Companies receive prizes in this yearly competition for promoting homegrown goods. In 2021, 2018, and 2019, SPAR Hungary took home the prize, placing second in 2019. The business was given a special award in 2020 for promoting Hungarian goods.

The 2018 “Just Clear Fitness Lifestyle Award” was given to SPAR Hungary for the development of its healthy lifestyle products. The retailer won “Health-Conscious Retailer of the Year 2022” for their efforts.

Additionally, SPAR Hungary won a number of major sustainability-related prizes. The “SPAR for Society,” “Hungaricool by SPAR,” and “Treasures of the Regions” initiatives shared first place in the Future Economy category of this year’s “Effekt 2030: Community Investment” competition.

The awards were created by Effekteam, a non-profit organization focused on sustainability, to honor outstanding and successful environmental and social investment initiatives of Hungarian businesses.

The competition for Trade Magazine’s “Symbol of Sustainability” honors initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future. The expert panel recognized SPAR Hungary this year for its expanding line of ecologically friendly goods and services, in addition to its animated “kokaland” stories that educate children about the environment.
