-

Thanks to innovations in environmental practices, Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. was awarded the 2025 SEAL Business Sustainability Award. This is the company’s fourth such award in five years, showing a robust commitment to sustainable operational practices.

The award is a recognition of achievement for the reduction of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 27.5%, which is further ahead of their target year of 2030 by seven years. In its Fleet modernization, product development, and new agriculture technologies were some of the steps taken to achieve this milestone.

Fuel and Shipping efficiency were elevated when Fresh Del Monte replaced their North American ocean fleet with 6 Hydrodynamic vessels. In addition, the company added the eco-friendly Del Monte Zero® Pineapple to its product range, which is a carbon-neutral pineapple. Technology was further leveraged to reduce emissions and nutrient run-off by monitoring plant nutrient needs.

“Exceeding the emissions reduction goal is something to be proud of, but Fresh Del Monte is already making moves towards the next target of a 30% reduction by 2030.” said Fresh Del Monte Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate R&D and Agriculture Hans Sauter.

The SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement, and Leadership) Awards recognize business excellence with a focus on sustainability. Founder and Chairman, Matt Harney noted the growing impact and materiality of this year’s award recipients for ESG.
