EVERYONE SHOULD EAT LESS SALT AND SUGAR. COMMITTED TO CONSCIOUS NUTRITION IS ALDI SÜD.
Today, ALDI SOUTH released the first iteration of its nutrition report in light of the #nutrition shift. This will be released yearly with immediate effect and details the company’s objectives and developments in the conscious nutrition sector. With the #nutritional change, ALDI SÜD wants to make healthy, delicious, and sustainable nutrition accessible to everyone.
ALDI SÜD is a leader in many fields when it comes to accessible, ethical nourishment. The business is already the top organic retailer in its own sales area 2, does away with a significant number of food additives, and offers over 700 different kinds of vegan products. Additionally, the business is leading the way in the field of animal welfare thanks to the ALDI change of mindset.
Since January, ALDI SÜD has also received guidance on nutrition-related issues from experts in culture, science, and the media. The members of the ALDI SÜD nutrition council are:
Verena Fein, KitchenTown Berlin’s Head of Innovation
Dr. Stephan Lück, a nutrition expert for radio and television with a doctorate in nutrition and food science, and Prof. Dr. Gunter P. Eckert are both professors of nutrition at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen.
Wilhelm Heilmann, Director of Trade and Processing at Naturlandzeichen GmbH
In the nutrition report released today, ALDI SÜD takes a decisive step further and sets new objectives in the field of conscious nutrition:
This implies, for instance, that ALDI SÜD has already reduced the sugar content in mueslis by 20%. Pizzas now contain 15% less sodium than they once did. Based on predetermined limit values, ALDI SÜD will decrease the sugar and salt content for six additional product categories by the end of 2025. Recipe optimization and adherence to the WHO nutritional value profiles for children’s products are given particular attention.
For a more plant-based diet, ALDI SOUTH intends to give 1,000 plant-based product types year-round in the standard, seasonal, and special offer ranges by the end of 20243. By the end of 2024, Naturland will have acquired 25% of the standard organic range, making the product more organic overall.
All ALDI SÜD own products will bear the Nutri-Score on their packaging by the summer of 2024. In light of this, the business strives to guarantee that its own brand goods consistently have the highest Nutri-Score when compared to equivalent branded products.
