Electronic Shelf-Edge Labels (ESL) Sales Has Boosted by 25% with best Sustainability Credentials

It is featuring electronic shelf-edge labels (ESL) displaying product sustainability attributes and has yielded remarkable results with over a 25% increase in sales. The trial was a collaboration between ESL manufacturer SES-image tag and food product sustainability intelligence provider HowGood, conducted at

Kavanagh’s Budgens Belsize Park. Products were labeled on the ESL with designations like Climate Friendly, Water Smart, Clean Label, Minimally Processed, and Fair Labour.
On average, products showcasing their eco-credentials on the Electronic Shelf-Edge Labels sales uplift of 25.8%. Notably, the attribute’ Fair Labour’ saw the most significant surge, at 45.1%.
SES-image tag and HowGood are now gearing up to make this capability available to all retailers across the UK. This move aims to provide shoppers with access to “reliable and transparent data on more than two million products directly on smart digital displays in stores.”

Alexander Gillett, CEO and co-founder of HowGood, emphasized that this technology offers a modern solution for retailers seeking to engage the rapidly growing market of eco-conscious consumers.
