EDEKA Minden-Hannover has, yet again, committed resources to aid those facing hardship. The retailer’s customer donation initiatives collected approximately 125000 euros and more than 30000 food items for the local food banks.
Successful Donation Campaign
Beginning in August and ending in December of the year 2024, customers from EDEKA were able to assist with the following purchase:
- Salami and rolls for donations beg Asto EB made by Bauerngut and Schafers other EDEKA production companies. A donation was made per each item sold.
- Donations of 5 euros represented five different key alimentaria. Flour, sugar, rice, pasta, and milk each were prized at a euro.
Both efforts fetched respectable amounts of funds and food donations that enabled distribution to five regional associations of food banks:
- Noord jezelf-Westflandern: cashamount 8919 euros with 16575 food units
- Bramenland: cashamount 10133 euros with 2005 food units
- Berlin: cashamount 18954 with 3935 food units
- Sachsen Anhalt: cashamount 24758 with 1245 food units
- Niedersachsen & Bremen: cashamount 62237 with 6070 food units
Food Banks and large corporation contibution
EDEKA Minden-Hannover has been donating products that cannot be sold but are safe for consumption to local food banks several times a week for the past thirty years.
Adjusting to New Difficulties
As a result of ongoing economic challenges, food aid programs are now facing the following issues:
- Additional strain as more people require food assistance
- Increased operational expenditures
- Deficits of food and other goods
- Minimal staff and other resources
Thanks to EDEKA’s sustained assistance, food banks can still provide aid to many needy families.
