EDEKA Gusek Welcomes Shoppers at Monheimer Tor After Opening

EDEKA Gusek Opens with a Fresh Shopping Experience

EDEKA Gusek officially opened its doors at Monheimer Tor on October 2nd, welcoming shoppers to explore its newly renovated and expanded space. Businessman Thomas Gusek and his team are thrill to introduce a modern, sustainable store that offers customers a wide range of fresh and organic products.

“We are excited to finally welcome our customers into the new EDEKA Gusek. The renovation process was a major project, but we’re proud of the result. The feedback from our shoppers so far has been fantastic,” said Thomas Gusek, who has managed the Monheim location since 2018.

A Modern Store with Sustainability in Mind

EDEKA Gusek’s redesign is both sleek and eco-friendly. The store now features energy-saving technologies, such as LED lighting, digital price tags, and a CO2 cooling system that reuses energy for heating. These features not only create a modern shopping environment but also reflect the store’s commitment to sustainability.

Shoppers will notice the store’s stylish design, with gray tiles, wooden accents, and black shelving giving it a contemporary feel. Different departments are color-coded, making it easy for customers to navigate through various sections, including the green-themed fruit and vegetable area and the purple-marked sweets section.

“Our goal was to create a shopping experience that feels fresh and engaging, while also being mindful of our environmental impact,” Gusek added.

Freshness and Organic Products at the Core

With an expanded sales area of 2,400 square meters, EDEKA Gusek now offers an even wider selection of products. Freshness remains a top priority, particularly in the larger fruit and vegetable department. Customers can also enjoy freshly made sushi from Eat Happy, self-serve juice stations, and a variety of snacks like salads and yogurts.

In partnership with local farmers and producers, including Thomashof Burscheid and the Fischer trout farm, EDEKA Gusek ensures that the freshest products are available while supporting the region’s agriculture. “Working with local producers helps us offer the freshest goods while also reducing our environmental footprint,” said Gusek.

At the heart of the store is a 26-meter-long service counter offering fresh baked goods, fish, meat, sausage, and cheese. A “hot counter” serves popular items like schnitzel and meatballs. With a growing team of 62 employees, EDEKA Gusek is still hiring for its service counter.

An Organic Haven with NATURKIND

EDEKA Gusek has introduced a dedicated section for organic products, known as NATURKIND. This department offers over 2,500 organic items from renowned brands like Rapunzel, Zwergenwiese, and Lebensbaum. “With NATURKIND, we’re making it easier for customers to find high-quality organic products in one place,” Gusek explained.

In addition to its wide organic range, the store also boasts an impressive selection of wines, chilled drinks, and delicatessen items. Self-service checkout stations provide added convenience for shoppers who want a quick and easy payment option.

As part of the grand opening celebration, EDEKA Gusek welcomed shoppers on German Unity Day, offering extended hours from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The store also offers 200 free parking spaces at Monheimer Tor, where customers can park for up to three hours.

EDEKA Gusek is now open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering Monheim residents a fresh and sustainable shopping destination. “I’d like to thank all the partners and employees who helped make this opening a success,” said Thomas Gusek.
