Dongwon Group has appointed Park Sang-jin as new CEO of Dongwon Industries Business Division and Min Eun-hong as CEO of StarKist, USA, marking the group’s first major shifts in leadership positions. This is part of an organizational realignment that seeks to improve industry specialization and promote global business development.
With over 2 decades of experience in Dongwon Industries, veteran Marine and Fisheries specialist, Park Sang-jin, joined the firm in 1998. He has spent the last 25 years in the company’s Marine and Fisheries Division after having worked in sales, finance, and planning. His proactive leadership style, characterized by him as a driving force for growth, should serve the company well. His appointment is awaited after a shareholders’ meeting on March 26 followed by his feedback in the forthcoming board of directors meeting.
Min Eun-hong has been promoted from his previous role at Dongwon Industries to President and CEO at StarKist. His experience from P&G managing multi-country business operations across six countries in Asia positions him appropriately to lead the global brand as he will be spearheading strategies at StarKist. The company is fresh off the back of a lifted 9 year long price fixing lawsuit that should help accelerate expansion within North America’s market the recently exposed StarKist to. Min is poised for high expectations as he seeks to bolster the company’s synergy with myriad domestic affiliates of Dongwon.
A representative for Dongwon Group stated that the changes in leadership were made in response to shifts on the marketplace. The company seeks to improve its business processes, maintain growth over time, and venture into different industries. Through these changes within the business, Dongwon Group is making the necessary changes to be competitive in the international arena and have further success.
