John Lewis Partnership Says Goodbye to Its CEO
The folks at John Lewis Partnership just told everyone that their top boss, Nish Kankiwala, is going to step down next year. But don’t worry, he’s not leaving completely. He’ll still be around to give advice and help out.
A New Way of Running Things
After Nish steps down, Jason Tarry, who’s already a big cheese at the company, will be in charge of the team. They’re not going to get a new CEO to replace Nish. Instead, they think Jason can handle things just fine.
Nish became the CEO in March 2023. He was supposed to stay for two years to help make some big changes in the company. And boy, did he make changes! The company started doing things differently, made more money, and even started making a profit again.
Looking Back and Moving Forward
Nish feels pretty good about what he and the team have done. He said it was super special to be the big boss during this time when so much was changing. Even though he won’t be the CEO anymore, he’ll still be around to help out Jason and give advice when needed.
Jason thinks Nish did a great job and really helped speed up all the changes they wanted to make. Another important person at the company, Rita Clifton, explained that they made Nish the CEO because they needed someone with his skills to help with all the big changes.
John Lewis Partnership, which owns the John Lewis and Waitrose stores, still wants to do good things for its workers (who they call partners), customers, and even the planet. They’re always trying to find ways to make things better for everyone.
