The Top Employers Institute has named EDEKA headquarters a Top Employer for the eleventh time in a row. As part of the award, the expert jury praised new innovative learning and further education opportunities as well as advanced health management for the approximately 1,800 employees at the Hamburg headquarters of the cooperative EDEKA network.

With around 3,500 independent merchants, EDEKA is not only Germany’s leading food retailer, but also the largest employer in the industry with over 400,000 employees within the EDEKA network. This also entails a special responsibility in the management and further development of the approximately 1,800 employees at the EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg. “It is important to us to optimally support our employees and at the same time offer them the best and sustainable working conditions. We are all the more pleased about the renewed confirmation of the Top Employers Institute, which is also an incentive for us to consistently continue on our positive path,” says Martin Scholvin, Board Member for Human Resources and Finance at EDEKA headquarters.

In the evaluation, the EDEKA headquarters was particularly convincing in those areas that have a direct impact on the quality of work and the well-being of employees. In 2022, this will once again include excellent occupational health management, which will also be offered digitally via the “EDEKA fit & gesund” platform and offers a variety of health services: from ergonomic and nutritional advice to vaccination offers and relaxing massages. Certified prevention courses, such as exercise in (professional) everyday life complement the program. Also in the area of further education, the EDEKA headquarters were once again confirmed top performance. For example, the digital portal “EDEKA next” offers all employees industry-wide unique access to all EDEKA learning and further education offers.
