ALDI ANNOUNCES NEW STORE OPENINGS AHEAD OF THE HOLIDAYS
Aldi is set to open 12 new stores across the United Kingdom before the end of the year. The supermarket, which recently celebrated the opening of its 1,000th UK store in Woking, plans to launch one new store per week on average during this period.
This month, shoppers in Taunton and Oldham can anticipate the opening of new Aldi locations, following the recent launch of three stores in Slough, Torquay, and Cannock. In November, towns such as Farnborough and West Bridgford will welcome new Aldi stores, with several other regions across the UK also set to host store openings before the year’s end.
These openings align with Aldi’s long-term goal of establishing 1,500 stores in the UK. The supermarket plans to invest £1.4 billion in expanding its UK footprint over the next two years. Each new store opening is expected to create around 40 new jobs on average, contributing to local employment opportunities.
Aldi Store Assistants will receive a starting pay of £11.40 per hour, while those based in London will receive £12.85 per hour. Notably, Aldi is the only supermarket that pays for breaks, which can amount to up to £972 per year.
George Brown, Real Estate Director at Aldi UK, expressed confidence in the supermarket’s continued success, saying, “Shoppers know they’ll always get more for their money when they shop with us, and we’re confident Aldi’s success will continue to grow.”
