Fujitsu & SST Begin Platform to improve Logistics Efficiency

-

Fujitsu Limited has partnered with Sustainable Shared Transport Inc (SST). SST is a subsidiary of Yamato Holdings Co, and they are combining to create a system for transport and delivery in Japan aimed at increasing efficiency in logistics for all industries. The service is set to launch on February 1, 2025, and will center on connecting shippers with logistics operators, specifically for trunk transportation.

The platform uses pallet standardization for transportation and information exchange to lower operating costs. To enable secure industry and company data sharing, Fujitsu blockchain technology is utilized to restrict access and change logs, which allows for undetected tampering and recovery.

In doing so, this initiative tackles issues in Japan’s logistics business, such as the shortage of transportation capacity, and the impacts of climate change. Through such an approach, it hopes to enhance logistical effectiveness, improve the working environment in logistics, and construct a more sustainable supply chain.

Moving forward, SST and Fujitsu want to increase the service area, schedules, and means of transport to include rail and sea freight in addition to trucking. Their objective is to further broaden the scope and effectiveness of the platform by increasing the routes to 80 by the end of March 2026.
