John Deere Reman Expansion Announces for Core Center Facility

John Deere Reman Expands Core Center Facility in Strafford, Missouri

On October 14, 2024, John Deere announced a $13.5 million expansion of its John Deere Reman Core Center facility located in Strafford, Missouri. This significant investment will see the facility grow by an additional 120,000 square feet, pushing the total size of the Core Center to an impressive 400,000 square feet. The groundbreaking is scheduled for mid-2025, with the completion expected in 2026.

John Deere’s Core Center facility, part of its John Deere Reman network, specializes in remanufacturing components. By taking used parts and refurbishing them to meet or exceed original specifications, the company offers its customers cost-effective, high-performance parts while reducing environmental impact. The upcoming expansion will strengthen this remanufacturing capacity, further supporting John Deere’s commitment to sustainable operations and product longevity.

Major Investment and Local Impact

According to Kevin Schrag, Manager of John Deere Reman, this expansion marks a significant step forward for the company and the community. “This is a major milestone for us,” Schrag said. “It reflects John Deere’s dedication to the remanufacturing business and the skilled local workforce that makes it possible.”

The Core Center facility in Strafford is one of several remanufacturing plants in the Springfield, Missouri area. Together, they play a key role in John Deere’s remanufacturing operations. The business began 26 years ago as a joint venture between John Deere and the Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation. Since then, John Deere has fully integrated the remanufacturing process into its broader operations.

Today, John Deere Reman employs over 500 people and offers more than 2,000 remanufactured products to customers worldwide. Approximately one-third of these products are exported, making the Core Center facility a global hub for remanufacturing excellence. This new expansion promises to enhance its capabilities and bolster John Deere’s position as a leader in the remanufacturing sector.

Strengthening Remanufacturing for the Future

John Deere Reman plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s vision for a sustainable future. The remanufacturing process extends the life of parts, lowers costs for customers, and significantly reduces waste. The new expansion will enable the Core Center to scale its operations and meet growing demand for remanufactured products across various sectors.

This latest investment also underscores John Deere’s confidence in its highly skilled workforce in the region. By expanding its Core Center facility, John Deere aims to create more opportunities for local employees while continuing to deliver top-tier remanufactured components that meet the company’s high standards of quality and performance.
