Tesco Director Martin Kuruc Becomes President of BLF Association

Slovakia, September 4 – Tesco director Martin Kuruc has been appointed president of the Business Leaders Forum (BLF) association. This marks the first time the CEO of Tesco Slovakia has taken on this role. For the next two years, Kuruc will lead the BLF, a network of companies committed to responsible business practices. His presidency will prioritize key themes such as diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

Tesco director Martin Kuruc’s Vision for Diversity and Inclusion

Kuruc emphasized the need to foster an inclusive environment within Slovakia’s business community. “In a time of polarized views, diversity and inclusion become essential for restoring fairness and open communication,” said Kuruc. As Tesco’s CEO, Kuruc has already taken steps to promote these values. In 2021, Tesco became the first company in Slovakia to publish a comprehensive report on diversity, equality, and inclusion.

This focus on inclusion extends beyond Tesco’s internal operations. Kuruc aims to inspire other companies to follow suit and actively build more inclusive workplaces. He believes that diversity and inclusion are vital for creating a culture of respect, both within companies and across society.

Kuruc’s appointment as president comes at a critical time, with Slovakia facing societal divisions. His goal is to unite the business community around shared values. “Several players must work together to build a better Slovakia—companies, the state, civil society, and non-profits. Together, we can create a better environment for our employees, customers, and society at large,” Kuruc said.

A Strong Focus on Environmental Sustainability

Sustainability is another pillar of Kuruc’s agenda as president of the Business Leaders Forum association. His commitment to environmental protection reflects Tesco’s longstanding dedication to climate action. “We have been addressing climate challenges since 2009, and we remain focused on topics like food waste reduction and sustainable packaging,” Kuruc explained.

Under his leadership, the BLF will continue to focus on sustainable business practices. This includes reducing transport emissions, promoting healthy food for both people and the planet, and minimizing waste. Kuruc believes that collaboration between companies is crucial for achieving meaningful environmental goals.

The BLF association, founded by the Pontis Foundation, is Slovakia’s largest platform for responsible business networking and education. Its 53 member companies are committed to exchanging best practices and promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

Driving Change for the Future

As president of the Business Leaders Forum association, Kuruc is dedicated to driving positive change. His presidency will also address support for women in the workplace, the gender pay gap, and inclusion for health and socially disadvantaged individuals. The LGBTQ+ community, elders, and young people will all be the targets of these initiatives.

“I am confident that the BLF will remain a strong player, leading responsible business practices in the coming years,” Kuruc concluded. His leadership promises to make a lasting impact, not just on member companies, but on society as a whole.

With a focus on diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, presidency of Tesco director Martin Kuruc will shape the future of responsible business in Slovakia.
