Schwarz Produktion and Lidl GB announced to invests in British bottling site in Derby

Schwarz Produktion and Lidl GB announced today that they will be opening a new bottling plant in Derby. This shows that the companies are still willing to invest in Great Britain.

Operated by MEG, a part of Schwarz Produktion, the facility has a robust production capacity of 380 million bottles annually. It has commenced supplying Lidl stores across Great Britain.

  1. The bottling plant, MEG Derby Ltd., is an integral part of Schwarz Produktion, the umbrella brand for the Schwarz Group’s production companies. MEG is renowned as one of Germany’s leading mineral water and soft drink manufacturers, making this its inaugural venture into the British market.
  2. Focused on bottling water and producing a range of soft drinks, the facility aims to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact by localizing production.
  3. This strategic move will streamline transport logistics, shrink product travel distances to stores, and improve Lidl’s carbon footprint while cutting costs.
  4. The newly established plant on a sprawling site equivalent to approximately nine football pitches has generated around 90 highly skilled job opportunities, contributing positively to the local economy.
