SPAR Austria will hire 900 trainees in 2023.

SPAR Austria, the largest private training firm in the country, has made 900 opportunities for trainees accessible across 24 distinct retail training specializations. After completing their training at SPAR, the organization provides its students with a variety of chances for continued education and career advancement within one of the most successful retail companies in Central Europe.
Best training, best bonuses
Due to demographic developments, it has in recent years become more difficult to fill available training positions. As a result, employers must offer attractive options to attract motivated young people. In addition to numerous social benefits, SPAR Austria offers employees a loyalty bonus and various discounts on insurance. SPAR Austria also pays some of the highest apprentice bonuses in the country’s food retail sector. In total, SPAR trainees can earn additional bonuses worth over €6,700 during their training.

“Young people are in a discovery phase. The job choice people make at the age of 14 or 15 can sometimes feel not quite right in later years, or they might want to develop in a different area later on. With 24 different training professions and a large variety of jobs, SPAR Austria gives young people a range of opportunities. Training at SPAR lays a secure professional foundation and is the cornerstone for further development within the SPAR Austria Group”, said Hans K. Reisch, Deputy Chairman of the SPAR Austria Board.

Career at SPAR
No matter what previous experience, ideas, and careers young people bring with them, training at SPAR is a fantastic starting point for a personal career path.

Marc Ofner, for example, is a Deputy Store Manager in a SPAR supermarket in Carinthia. He started at SPAR as a trainee in retail and wholesale and gained experience at SPAR Austria’s central office in Carinthia as well as on the shop floor. After completing his training, he decided to continue working in stores, as this better fits with his career goal of becoming a store manager in the next few years.

Professional support
SPAR trainees have team members at their side, answering questions, offering support and advice, and treating each other with respect. Experienced trainers accompany trainees throughout the entire training period and give them regular feedback. Personal development is also a central training element at SPAR Austria. This is supported by various additional training courses, including Green Champion, Fairtrade Ambassador, and Meat or Cheese Expert.

In 2023, SPAR Austria is taking on 900 new trainees for various training professions. People interested in starting training at SPAR Austria in the autumn of this year can apply now. Required are an interest in food, a sociable nature, and good German language skills.
